It's 9:30 and Johnny has just let you know that he
has homework due tomorrow in Math class. After counting to 10, you
pull out the scrap paper and pencil and begin the often dreaded math homework
assignment. As a parent and a teacher, I hope I can provide YOU with
some hope when it comes to helping your children with their mathematics
schoolwork.
First lets look at some web sites concerning homework and what a parent can do to make their child a better student. There is also information on helping the ADD or ADHD student.

After years of research, the state of Texas has developed a Parent Initiative Program which details the impact of the parent on a student's performance in school.
Research on Parental Involvement
I have included some additional web sites that may assist you in becoming a better parent tutor at home. They include mathematics supplies you may purchase for your personal use, activity sheets you can do with your child, and if all else fails, a professional tutoring service. There is also a site with information regarding recent research on the brain and learning which you may find beneficial.
