Introduction

Everyone loves to eat! Do you know what's healthy for your body? It will be your task to learn about the food guide pyramid and healthy eating habits.



 

The Task

Below are the activities you will need to do to become health nuts!

  • find a sample of the food guide pyramid
  • create a day's worth of menus using the tree map organizer
  • complete an on-line evaluation

The Process

To accomplish the task, these steps should be done.

1.  You and your partner will open the two links about the food guide pyramid and explore the types of food in each section.
2.  Take a sheet of paper and draw the pyramid.  Label each section and write the number of servings needed from each group.
3.  Print out 2 copies of the tree map graphic organizer. You and your partner will each need to list what you have eaten at breakfast and lunch.  Figure the number of servings still needed for a full day's requirement.  Design a dinner menu that will incorporate the needed servings. Turn in to the teacher when completed.
4. Print out the on-line Pyramid Quiz on the link below. Complete and turn in to the teacher.



 

Evaluation

Pyramid Quiz
The tree map organizer will be turned in to the teacher for evaluation also.



 

Conclusion
