Introduction

Christmas - December 25In a thousand different ways, the peoples of the earth join their hearts in the great communion of mankind that only this season can bring. Learning about the Christmas customs of various nations helps us to understand the wide variety of traditions that families have practiced for many centuries around the globe.

The Task

You know very little about Christmas celebrations around the world so you decide to do some research on the computer. As you find out more and more about this interesting subject, you have a GREAT IDEA!!! Why don’t you have the whole school observe Christmas as it is celebrated in some other country of the world.  Good luck on these tasks:

  • Brainstorm different Christmas celebrations in various parts of the world
  • Where could you find information about other traditional celebrations
  • How do these celebrations differ from those we observe
  • Explain the cultural significance of varying celebrations
  • Create a poster, present a PowerPoint presentation, stage a drama, or plan a party based on the researched information

The Process

In order to accomplish your task, do the following:

1.     Choose a partner to work with you on this WebQuest.

2.      Select a country from you list of resources.

3.      Conduct an Internet search for information about the country which you have chosen

4.      Bookmark any sites you find to be especially useful

5.      Decide which method (Poster, PowerPoint Presentation, Drama, or Party) you will use to present to the class what you  have learned.

6.      Develop your project

7.      Present to the class

 

Evaluation

The final evaluation will be based on how well your presentation is received by the other students. A self Assessment and a Peer Evaluation shall be completed as part of the evaluation of this project

 



Conclusion

After completion of this project the students should be excited about learning more about the various Christmas celebrations around the world. This media is a great way to share information and technology with other learners within the global community.
