Introduction

  • Why is your skin drier in the winter than in the summer?
  • What is a psychrometer?
  • What is humidity?
  • How do you determine relative humidity?

  •

The Task

  •            Define the following words

                   dewpoint
                   meteorologist
                   humidity
                   relative humidity
                   psychrometer
                   hygrometer
                   Celsius
  •         Perform lab on determining relative humidity
  •         Determine percent of relative humidity
  •         Keep records of relative humidity in classroom for two weeks
  •           Writing assignment

The Process

          1.  First you will be assigned to a group of three students.
        2.  Next you will define meteorological terms related to humidity using the internet.
        3.  The groups will be responsible for performing the "determining the relative humidity lab".
        4.  Groups will be given hypothetical conditions to determine relative humidity using table.
        5.  Questions over relative humidity will be answered by each group.
        6.  Graph the relative humidity findings for two weeks.
        7.  Write a report in which you compare a humid day with a non-humid day.

Evaluation

You will graded on several items as a group during this webquest.   You will be graded on the definitions, lab, relative humidity problems, questions, graph, and report using a rubric chosen by the teacher.

Conclusion

You have just completed a small fragment of a meteorologist's job.  Do you have a future in weather?
