Students Advances to Regionals

Science Team

The Petrolia High School Science Team placed first at the district 13A Meet in Vernon, Texas on March 29th.  As a result of placing first, they will advance to the Regional Contest in Abilene on April 14th. 

Individually, Jarad McCauley placed second and Tsz-Hin Ho placed 6th in the Science contest.  Other members of the team are Jackie Bevering and Carson Cray.

Also placing at District were Aubrey Cullar, 4th place in Current Issues and Events, and Brittney Foster, 4th place in Feature Writing.

Receives $2500 Best Buy Teach Award
to Enhance Technology in School Curricula

Petrolia High School has been awarded a $2500 Best Buy Teach Award for integrating interactive technology into the curriculum.  Best Buy started the Teach Award Program in October 2003, to reward schools that creatively
integrate interactive technology into their curricula.  All accredited, public and private nonprofit elementary, middle and secondary schools located within 50 miles of a Best Buy store were eligible to apply.  Awards of $2500 were given to 1,300 schools to sustain or enhance existing educational programs.
